In his column yesterday, Ralf Schumacher announced the departure of Sergio Perez from Red Bull. He cited Helmut Marko's dissatisfaction with the Mexican as the main reason. Perez is not in the best shape, and his performances do not inspire optimism that he will remain in the team next season.

"I think his days at Red Bull are numbered. Dr. Helmut Marko is not exactly known for his warm-hearted way of dealing with Perez. I think that Perez as a guy can’t deal with that so well, that’s how I explain these serious mistakes."- he said, as quoted by crash.net!

We didn't have to wait long for Helmut Marko's reaction. The Austrian laughed at such statements and gave an interesting answer; “Hopefully he didn't mean that Mick Schumacher would have to replace him,” he told OE25. “Now he has a contract until 2024”.

Helmut Marko also responded to the reporter's questions about whether Perez will be part of the team next season, and whether he is guaranteed a place in the team. The Austrian had the answer most expected; “Job guarantee, is that available in Formula 1? In any case, it is a contractual guarantee."

Sergio Perez and Red Bull

One thing is certain: Perez does not meet the expectations of the Red Bull team's leaders and will have to do his best if he really wants to remain part of the team for the next season as well.

“Checo drives really well at times, but doesn't always manage to squeeze everything out of the car without making mistakes. In Zandvoort, for example, he probably wouldn't have finished in the points without the crash”.

The F1 Italian Grand Prix will be an opportunity for them to win again. Marko confirmed that they have exactly such ambitions. “I also think it's quite possible now,” Marko said. “On the other hand, something can always happen”.
