Jonas Vingegaard on Tour de France route: I feel that it suits me better

In an interview with WielerFlits and Ride magazine, Jonas Vingegaard talked about the Tour de France route in 2023. "It seems to be another tough route," he said, as quoted by cyclingnews.com. "When I first saw the parcours, my first feeling was that this was a Tour de France more suited to Pogačar.

"But the more often I look at the route, the better it seems to get. Every time I study the parcours, I feel that it suits me better." Jonas Vingegaard is satisfied with the Tour de France route. It looks like he is more satisfied with the course that will await him in 2023.

Vingegaard is as motivated as ever and will be a great danger to all competitors. Jonas noticed certain things well. "My first observation made me realise that there are few real high mountains in this Tour," he said. "My first feeling was that there are very few climbs that suit me.

But, as I study the Tour in more detail, the more I come to the conclusion that certain stages suit me very well. "In the last edition, there were a number of climbs of around 3km and those aren't in the route next year. Now it's more about climbs of around 10km, all of which are quite difficult."

Vingegaard and Giro d'Italia

Vingegaard hasn't studied the Giro d'Italia much, but his goals remain the same.

He wants to defend his title at the Tour de France. That is his primary goal and other things come after that. Jonas is self-confident, which is the most important thing for him at the moment. "I want to go back to the Tour," he said.

"It seems very special to start with the number one jersey. I did see that the Giro has the time trial kilometres to suit me but beyond that I haven't looked at the parcours."
