Mominul Haque: "We had failed to execute our plans"

After the defeat by Sri Lanka, Mominul Haque, the captain of the Bangladesh team, also spoke. His team was not up to par, and many believe the spinners could have done a better job. Yet Haque says he is pleased with their game, although it could have been better "It can be the case that we misread the wicket but it looked a lot the same (like the first Test wicket).

But I don't think we needed another extra spinner on this wicket as we had two world class spinners and they bowled well,'' Mominul said after the loss, as quoted by cricbuzz "There will always be an issue, if you lose a certain match, as I believe, there were no problems with our spin department."

"However, the spinners obviously could have bowled a bit better than what they did. In the first two days, the wicket wasn't assisting the bowlers at all, but still, the spinners were good, and despite not being able to pick up wickets, they had consistently contained the runs, which had created the possibility to take wickets afterward.

So I'm quite happy with the spinners' performance.' ' Mominul believes that toss was the deciding factor "Toss had a big impact on the game as fifty percent of the match was determined by it (toss). If we had batted first, you would have seen a different story and they (Sri Lanka) would have been in our place,'' said Mominul.

Tamim Iqbal

Tamim Iqbal played a great match, but the other players could not keep up with his pace "I feel that we couldn't play as a batting unit in this Test match, which is solely the reason for our downfall."

"Tamim (Iqbal) Bhai had set the tone for us in the first innings, but the others couldn't cash in on it. It could have been a whole different story if we had batted for 4-5 sessions in the first innings." "We had batted for six sessions in the first Test, so we have the ability, but couldn't deliver it,'' said a visibly disappointed skipper.

It seems that Bangladesh did not dare to realize what they intended "This is such a wicket where there is no room for error. You can't be too defensive here and even being too attacking also could bite you in the end."

"So you need to have a plan but obviously we had failed to execute our plans, which cost us in the end," he lamented.
