The 2nd ODI between England and Ireland was an engaging match; Ireland's lower batting order deserves a round of applause for giving their all and almost securing a win. Ireland won the toss and decided to bowl first. England lost a few early wickets, but they still managed to keep their run rate high.

Will Jacks, Sam Hain and Ben Duckett played a significant role in making runs for their team. England ended with a strong total of 334/8 in 50 overs; it was pressurizing for Ireland from the very first ball, due to which they lost crucial wickets way too soon.

The match would have wrapped up in 200 runs, but Ireland's lower order displayed a flawless flow of quality shots and took the score from 188-8 to 286/10. They didn't need more overs; they just needed more wickets. England won the match by 48 runs and will face Ireland for the 3rd ODI on 26th September.

It will be interesting to see if Ireland can level up in the series. Watch the entire match highlights below:

Post-match interviews

Zak Crawley (England's captain):

"Couple of standout performances with the bat and the ball," Crawley said, as quoted by cricbuzz.com.

"We were about par. We got a good score. We were brave in the bowling department. Really impressed with the way Scrimshaw bounced back. Tough day for him. The spinners bowled well. You have to give people a chance".

Paul Stirling (Ireland's captain):

"We just couldn't rack up in the first 40 odd minutes," Stirling said as quoted by cricbuzz.com.

"We have another game. The wicket wasn't tough to score. 330 seemed a par score. Last game of the season before we get a break. The energy levels should be up. We were on top for a few moments. Dockrell had a good game with the bat and the ball".
