Naoya Inoue easily defended his titles

Without major problems, Naoya Inoue (22-0-0, 19 KOs) defended his WBA and IBF belts in the bantamweight category. The undefeated Japanese defeated Thai Aran Dipaen (12-3-0, 11 KOs) by technical knockout in the eighth round.

Inoue thus came to the 22nd consecutive victory, and during 2022, we should look at him against somewhat more resounding names. Aran Dipaen served as an opponent as Inoue desperately wanted to do a performance in his Japan, for the first time since 2019 and a win against Nonit Donaire.

Everyone was aware that Dipaen is not even close to the caliber of a boxer who can provide problems for the best boxer in the world, and the match showed that. The difference in quality was obvious from start to finish. "Monster" worked well for the directors from the very beginning, while Dipaen tried to box from a distance.

Inoue worked patiently, and Dipaen's face and nose were in the bad situation. At the start of the seventh round, Inoue shook Dipaen more seriously, but Aran successfully remained on his feet until the end of the round.

His nose was bleeding harder and harder, culminating in the next round. Naoya Inoue has decided to finish his opponent. Two left crochets shook Dipaen who ended up on the floor.

End of the fight

The Thai managed to recover before the referee counted down ten seconds, but as soon as the match resumed, Inoue hit another left crochet and the referee decided to stop the match.

The visibly shaken and declassed Dipaen lasted longer than expected, but the impression is that Naoya wanted to give the audience a chance to enjoy his masterpieces for a bit longer. John Riel Casimero (31-4-0, 21 KO) is once again emerging as the most logical opponent for the great Japanese.

The 31-year-old Filipino holds the WBO belt in bantam and alongside Nonit Donaire, many see him as actually the only bantam who can endanger the 28-year-old Japanese. Inoue and Casimero were supposed to fight back in April last year, but a coronavirus pandemic prevented it and the match was canceled.

We hope that an agreement will be reached in 2022. John Riel Casimero is a dangerous fighter who has a lot to offer, and it could really be one of the bigger fights we’ve watched lately. Maybe this time we will finally welcome the fight of two great fighters, in which we could watch a real spectacle
