Silva disappointed because Ortiz doesn’t follow the rules

Tonight, more precisely in the early hours of Sunday, there will be an interesting boxing event directed by the Triller Fight Club. Vitor Belfort, 44, will compete with legendary Evander Holyfield, who turns 59 next month. Ten years have passed since Holyfield's last appearance, and he jumps into the ring as a replacement for Oscar De La Hoya, who contracted the coronavirus.

Although the Florida Athletic Commission has agreed to sanction the fight as an official professional match, it is still unknown whether it will be an exhibition or an official match. Namely, Evander Holyfield is worried about his professional ratio (44-10-2, 1 NC) and is not sure if he wants to have the fight against Belfort registered in the official win-loss ratio.

The Thriller promotion has time until the start of the fight to inform the commission whether it is an official match or an exhibition. Evander Holyfield at the official weigh-in was noticeably heavier than his opponent Vitor Belfort.

The scales showed the American boxer 225.4 "pounds" (102.2 kilograms) while Belfort weighed 206.2 "pounds" (93.53 kilograms). Anderson Silva and Tito Ortiz will also compete in this event. The fight between the two fighters was contracted in a "catchweight" up to 195 "pounds" (88.45 kilograms).

Ortiz had said weeks earlier that he was disappointed with Silva for looking for such a low weight.

Tito claimed that he had not been at that weight since the second year of college, and now he is 46 years old.

It was to be assumed that Ortiz would have big problems with losing weight and that is exactly what happened. Namely, the American MMA fighter exceeded the allowed weight by 5 "pounds", that is, he stepped on the scales with 200 "pounds" (90.7 kilograms).

Anderson Silva appeared well below the limit. The "Spider" scale showed 192.6 "pounds" (87.36 kilograms). The Brazilian is disappointed with Ortiz's fall and said in an interview with MMA Fighting: '' Why didn't you lose weight? It shows your lack of respect for viewers and fans.

I am a professional and I have done my job. I didn't know if he would succeed, but why did he sign the contract at all? '' said a disappointed Silva, but confirmed that the fight would take place regardless of the great fall of Tito Ortiz.

40-year-old Briton David Haye (28-4-0) will also perform at this event. The once-best heavyweight in the world has not performed since May 2018 and the defeat against Tony Bellew. Tonight he will compete with his compatriot Joe Fournier (9-0-0, 9 KO).

"Hayemaker" appeared in a really impressive form, and weighed 211.5 "pounds" (95.93 kilograms). His opponent Fournier is much lighter and the scales showed him 195.5 "pounds" (88.67 kilograms).
