Undoubtedly the biggest victory of his career was achieved last weekend by Yordenis Ugas, defeating Manny Pacquiao. The bronze Olympian from Beijing thus confirmed his ownership of the WBA welterweight champion's belt, which was awarded to him by that organization after it was taken away by Pacquiao due to inactivity.
The Filipino has not yet confirmed whether this was his last match, ie he said that it is possible, but that he wants to go home first and make the final decision. If he stays active and reveals it publicly, Ugas is ready to give him a rematch right away.
So at least he answered the question of whether he would be ready to do another match. During his speech, he had only words of praise for his opponent, whom he obviously has great respect for, which is certainly commendable by Ugas.
"200 percent that I would. As you know, Manny is a great legend, a great fighter. If he wants a rematch, there's no doubt about it. A legend like him absolutely deserves it," the Mirror quotes Ugas after being asked about a rematch.
Words of praise
The Cuban is happy that Pacquiao has accepted him as a substitute opponent after Errol Spence Jr. was injured. and considers it the least he can do to repay him. "I want to thank Manny Pacquiao for sharing the ring with me.
He is a legend, one of the greatest boxers who have ever lived. I will always respect him to the maximum and I will always try to be like him because he is not just a great fighter." "He is a great person and a real example of how to behave, ”the 35-year-old Cuban added.
Everything he lost two years ago has returned to Ugas this way, after a very controversial defeat by Shawn Porter. And he now has a very good position to try to fight for a match against Spence or maybe even Terence Crawford, who will soon be fighting against Porter.
Before that, as he stated, he has nothing against the fight vs great Filipino. The question is how much Pacquiao can do at the moment because he really looked really bad in the match against Ugas. He didn’t remind us of his past performances and was nowhere near what was expected.
We will see if the Filipino is ready to fight again or he will end his career. We know Pacquiao is combative but still, his years could be obstacles in everything
