Usyk and Lomachenko teamed up again to defeat Joshua

After preparing for the match against Derek Chisora with coach Yuri Tkachenko, Oleksandr Usyk will return to where he was actually created as a boxer. For the biggest match of his career, the one he will fight on September 25 in London against Anthony Joshua, the 34-year-old undefeated Ukrainian will return to Anatoly Lomachenko.

Lomachenko is a famous Ukrainian coach and father and also the coach of another of the best boxers in the world, Vasyl Lomachenko. Although there is a difference of over 30 kilograms between them, Oleksandr and Vasyl literally grew up together in the gym, and there is no doubt that Loma will be his father's right hand in these preparations.

Anatoly led them both to Olympic gold in London in 2012, but when he went professional, Usyk went his own way, while Lomachenko devoted himself entirely to his son. However, Usyk has already returned to him once, in 2018, when he was preparing for his biggest match so far, the one against Murat Gassiev.

With the victory in that match, Usyk reached all four belts of the lightweight category, ie the title of absolute champion. Now he has decided to once again ask for his help, that is, a way to overcome Joshua and reach the three heavyweight belts.

Wilder wants to revenge

While this is not official, the news was revealed by Bob Arum. He has no connections with Usyk but is on very good terms with the Lomachenko family. After all, he has been Vasily’s promoter for many years.

Usyk will try to come up with a victory on Sept. 25 that would elevate himself to the biggest throne to date, but he would also kill the idea of a Joshua-Tyson Fury match. Still, there is a chance that Wilder will do the same thing and thus prevent such a duel much earlier.

Wilder, just like Usyk, looks motivated and ready and it seems that this will be the most difficult preparation for him so far, considering that he was quite frustrated after the defeat by Fury. This is his ideal opportunity to take revenge on Fury, who he believes cheated in the match and there were many excuses for such a defeat.

Of course, both Usyk and Wilder will use the chance that was given to them and will try to beat the opponents who are the favorites in both matches. We are aware of the quality of both Joshua and Fury, but we must not forget the quality of Usyk and Wilder, because they will be very dangerous opponents.
