We have been waiting for Vasyl Lomachenko's return for eight months. One of the best boxers in the world has not shown much since he lost the match against Teofimo Lopez and hardly anyone could be sure what he would return to the ring.
But already after the first two or three rounds of the match against the dangerous Masayoshi Nakatani it was clear that the real “Loma” is back in the element. We were able to enjoy his best boxing again, and the brave and enduring Japanese was finished in the ninth round.
After the match, only one thought was clear, Lomachenko must get a chance for a rematch against Teofimo Lopez, a rematch that has not already happened just because his team and he did not put a clause in the contract before the first match.
Lomachenko wants Lopez
It’s a lesson they’ve learned, but there’s no point in suffering for a long time because of it. That match must happen, and the Ukrainian boxer is aware of that. "I am happy because I won.
All the strategy I agreed with my team worked. I met my goals, I won and I am on the right track again. Everyone saw how I won and everyone is also now expecting a rematch against Teofimo Lopez. Let's give it to them," Vasyl said confidently and affirmatively immediately after the match.
Lopez was scheduled to play a match against George Kambosos Jr. a week ago, but due to a COVID illness, everything was postponed to September 11th. He is aware of that and is ready to wait for his chance after that match. "Lopez will have a match against Kambosos soon, but what do you think about the date after that, let's say the beginning of next year? December, January, February, I'm waiting!" In the first match against Lopez, Lomachenko was shocked in the beggining by the response to his greatest qualities and simply got involved in the match too late in the right way.
If we look at how he did the last three or four rounds against Lopez, with the right strategy of the Ukrainian, we must not consider anyone in the return match as the favorite. But we are allowed to cheer, and we believe we know who the heart of most fans will be with.
No matter what, the fight between the two would be truly phenomenal. Lopez was scheduled to play a match against George Kambosos Jr. a week ago, but due to a COVID illness, everything was postponed to September 11th.
