A very interesting debate arose after Dustin Poirier proposed Mike Perry as Jake Paul’s next opponent. Namely, Paul later revealed how he and Perry paired up during preparations for their now-held fights. As an attachment, he added footage of Perry telling him how he kicked his ass, adding that the UFC welterweight was an easy job.
In opposition to Dustin's proposal, Paul proposed a match against him. Now Perry has come forward, who has a slightly different view of the sparring they did. He believes Paul decided to use a statement he intended to show him respect.
"I was asking Jake Paul and his team to help me be great. We sparred 6 rounds. The 5th and the 6th rounds were my best rounds. He caught me at first then I made the adjustments. Showed up to spar just me my girl and my baby."
- Perry wrote on Twitter, but shortly thereafter posted a short sparring video on Instagram, with a much longer text:
"The only clip we got. Go ahead and post some Jake Paul , I took your best shots and walked you down all day.
We all know I’m not hard to hit but I’m gonna focus on that now." "You know there was no danger in boxing a wrestler last night and you gave me a chance to punch you in the face (and I did) and I respected it but you mistook that and that’s my fault."
"I show up with my girl and baby so I don’t bring drama. I show up and fight. I was a fan after you sparred me. You showed heart and you’re already successful and you seemed to have a strong team (power in numbers) but you’re a spoiled brat and I’m rich in life."
"You’re broke with a bunch of fake yes men around you that you pay for. I don’t fu*k with nobody and all the money in the world can’t make you real like me" Perry also answered those who think that a match should be organized in which he would beat Paul.
But he admits he doesn’t see a win against him as something he could easily come up with. "Man you guys are unreal, I should beat him easily? Smh the dude can box." "He has a great team and he punched me in the face a few times and I started to get him back as it progressed. I’m talking about him cuz they brought me up. How do y’all live with yourselves?"
