Teofimo Lopez successfully retained his belt against Jamaine Ortiz by claiming a dominating unanimous decision. This was Teofimo Lopez’s first appearance after announcing retirement from boxing; some fans were very impressed with his performance, and some fans had a very difficult time watching the fight.
Both fighters looked sharp and had moments of domination; interestingly, Jamaine Ortiz thought he won the fight and was quite shocked with the judges’ final decision of declaring Lopez the winner by unanimous decision.
Teofimo Lopez wants to fight a credible opponent next, someone who already has a belt under their possession. Lopez is ready to fight Terrence Crawford at catchweight, and it will be interesting to see if that fight materializes before the end of 2024.
Jamain Ortiz has corrections to make; after reflecting on what went wrong in the fight, he will be able to bounce back much stronger.
