Teofimo Lopez has had an interesting career so far, he claimed a giant win against the highly skilled Josh Taylor and snatched everything away from him. Instead of calling out an opponent, Teofimo Lopez announced retirement from the sport of boxing.

At the age of 25! No one knows if it was a stunt to gain more publicity but to his satisfaction, whatever it was clearly worked out well for him. A few months after retiring, Teofimo Lopez announced that he is no more retired and will now face Jamaine Ortiz on 9th February.

This is a fantastic opportunity for Jamaine Ortiz to fulfil his dream by dethroning Teofimo Lopez. Both fighters look forward to giving their all. It will be fascinating to see who’s hands get raised on 9th February.

In a recent interview, Teofimo Lopez explained how he is ready to put on a show.
"Jamaine is tough,” Lopez said, as quoted by skysports.com. “I would know, because I faced him back in the amateur days in 2015 for the National Golden Gloves Championship.

I'll show the world that champions don't flinch when faced with challenges. They rise and shine the brightest when the stakes are highest. This one is for all my people on the Takeover Express! Let's show the world once again what real boxing looks like".

"This is the most important fight of my career,” Ortiz said, as quoted by skysports.com. “It's my first world title bout. I believe this fight will bring out the very best in me, and I'm looking forward to coming home as the new champion".


Ortiz recently faced his first ever career defeat against Vasyl Lomachenko a win from here could allow him to demand a rematch against him, considering vengeance is important to him.
