The heavyweight clash between Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou was entitled as a one-sided fight before the match even started. Ngannou absolutely shocked the world and proved the vast majority of people wrong. Ngannou was expected to be finished well before the end of 10 rounds, but to everyone’s surprise, he showed true skill and determination and went the distance against the heavyweight champion of the world.
Fury was dropped on the canvas, and Ngannou dominated many rounds; after 10 rounds of action, the judges declared Tyson Fury the winner by split decision. The decision has left many in doubt, as fans and boxing experts firmly believe that Ngannou won the match.
It is a big stain on the Fury name, and in order to remove the stain, Tyson Fury will have to fight Ngannou for the rematch and claim a comprehensive win. According to Frank Warren, Tyson Fury’s promoter, Fury wants the rematch, and there’s a good chance for fans to see it happen soon.
As far as the Uysk fight is concerned, the fight is finally confirmed to take place on 17th February 2024.
Frank Warren on Fury vs Ngannou II
Recently on The MMA Hour, Frank Warren revealed that Fury wants the rematch against Ngannou.
Warren also spoke about Ngannou’s chances of winning against other top heavyweight fighters. “I think there’s a good chance of that happening. I do,” Warren said, as quoted by mmafighting.com. “I don’t know [if it’ll be next for Fury].
It’s like jumping too far forward. Let’s get the big one [with Oleksandr Usyk on Feb. 17] out of the way first, and then we’ll see where we go. But I do think [it’ll happen]. Tyson told me that he wants the rematch, and I know Ngannou wants it, because after the fight we were out there, we met at His Excellency [Turki Alalshikh]’s house and we had quite a lengthy conversation.
Warren on Ngannou’s chances of winning against other fighters: He’s a nice guy, by the way. He’s a really nice guy, good team around him, and I’m quite sure we’ll do it again.I think Ngannou will give any of the guys in the top 10 — and he’s ranked now, I think couple of the organizations have dropped him in there, and they should do it, he’s just gone the distance with the world champion — I think it’ll give all of them a problem, and there’s a couple of them there I think he could beat”.
