Francis Ngannou shocked the entire world with his unexpected performance. Since it was a controversial loss, fans and boxing experts worldwide want to see a rematch so all doubts can be cleared. However, the former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya believes Francis Ngannou should fall back to participating in MMA matches.
Adesanya does not want Francis Ngannou to be restricted to only striking with his hands; he would prefer seeing Ngannou express himself more, which can only happen in MMA as there are no restrictions. Ngannou seems to be strongly interested in fighting Tyson Fury for the rematch before he makes his PFL debut in the early phase of 2024.
Fury is expected to fight Oleksandr Usyk soon, so fans may have to wait quite a while to witness the rematch between Fury and Ngannou.
Israel Adesanya on what should be next for Ngannou
In a recent YouTube video, Israel Adesanya shared his thoughts on what Francis Ngannou should do next in his career.
“Before this fight, no one wanted to watch Francis (box) anyone,” Adesanya said, as quoted by mmajunkie.usatoday.com. “They were like, ‘He doesn’t have a chance. Never.’ Now he’s a superstar, everybody’s going to be, ‘Of course – fight my guy.’ What do I want to see? I haven’t thought about it, to be honest.
But first thing, if I’m being honest, I want to see him in MMA. With who? I don’t know. I wasn’t thinking that far. I like fighting, and I like Francis boxing. It’s exciting, yes. … I just want to see him use all limbs.
When we see him in those shorts with those legs and arms, and he looks like a juggernaut, slings that leg at someone … Patient Francis hits that jab. That’s my pugilism is mixed martial arts, even though I love boxing. I still want to see him fight (MMA and not just box)”.
