The potential heavyweight fight between Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua is still under the negotiation stage. Since there’s no concrete confirmation about the fight, people think it’s called off. Deontay Wilder’s trainer, Malik Scott, shed some light on the potential match; he believes AJ won’t show up because he’s deep within he does not want the fight.
If the fight takes place, it could most likely happen in the starting phase of 2024. For now, boxing fans should be excited & fulfilled with the upcoming fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury. Perhaps this will be the fastest Tyson Fury will show up after finishing one event.
Anthony Joshua has been pretty active this year, whereas Deontay Wilder has been out of the game for almost a year now; we should soon hear some fight news from Wilder’s end.
Malik Scott on Deontay Wilder vs Anthony Joshua
In a recent interview with Fight Hype, Malik Scott explained why he thinks Anthony Joshua won’t show up to fight against Deontay Wilder.
“AJ is cool if he goes his whole career without fighting Deontay,” Scott said, as quoted by boxing-social.com. “He don’t really mind it. You don’t see him fighting for it. It’s the fighters at the end of the point.
I don’t care what Shelly and Al Haymon saying, you see Deontay out there calling fighters out. You have to take some of this from yourselff. Yeah your promoter and manager are part of it, but as a fighter you have to do your job and get the big fights done.
Scott further said: To me, AJ doesn’t campaign about the fight enough. He doesn’t really want it – and we all know why. Because stylistically he’s picture perfect to be knocked the **** out by Deontay”.
