Canelo Alvarez defended his super middleweight titles and defeated Jermell Charla in a long-awaited fight. Alvarez won on points, dominating the entire match against Charlo. Canelo (60-2-2, 39 KOs) had one of his best performances, and proved that he is a great fighter who will surely be remembered.

“I’m a strong fighter all the time, against all the fighters,” said Canelo. “I’m a strong man. Nobody can beat this [version of' Canelo”.

Charlo's defense this time was not what we are used to, Canelo Alvarez found a way to break through it

Jermell Charlo of course moved up two divisions to fight Alvarez.

For the first time we saw the flaws of his defense in this match. At the very beginning of the fight, Alvarez found space to deliver a body blow. For the rest of the fight, Charlo focused mostly on defense, his shots didn't go through, he seemed clueless.

He had a couple of clean shots in the seventh round, but in the end it all ended with Alvarez winning. Indeed, the audience could watch an excellent match, and certainly no one regretted the money they paid for the ticket.
“We worked on attacking the body,” said Canelo.

“We know he’s a great fighter. He knows how to move in the ring. We worked on attacking the body for three months. For three months in the mountains without my family, without everything”. “I still love boxing,” said Canelo.

“I love boxing so much. Boxing is my life. Boxing made me the person I am today. That’s why I love boxing so much. And I love boxing so much because of my fans, too…Cinco de Mayo I’ll face whoever. I don’t care”.

as quoted by BoxingScene Surely one of the best matches we have seen this year. So far, perhaps the best performance of Canelo Alvarez in his rich career.
