‘The Bronze Bomber’ Deontay Wilder is expected to face Anthony Joshua next. Their teams are in the negotiation stage, and if all conditions are fulfilled and mutually agreed upon, then we could soon hear a fight announcement.
Joshua has had a successful year so far; he first fought against Jermaine Franklin and secured a unanimous decision. He then reappeared in August against Robert Helenius and secured a fabulous knockout win. Deontay Wilder on the other side, has yet to make a return this year; he last fought against Robert Helenius, too.
People have different perspectives on the outcome of a potential match between Wilder and Joshua; John Fury recently had a say on Wilder vs Joshua, he believes it would be a tough night for Anthony Joshua.
John Fury on Deontay Wilder vs Anthony Joshua
In a recent interview with Rob Moore, John Fury shared his thoughts on Wilder vs Joshua and explained why he thinks it would be a tough night for Joshua.
“Unfortunately not, no,” Fury said as quoted by boxing-social.com. “Wilder, for me, he’s not my favourite man in the world, a terrible sportsman, he’s like a big kid, you’ve seen his attitude when he loses.
But can the man punch? Yes he can. Has he got a pair of nuts? Yes he has.You can’t hang your chin out and let Wilder hit it, cause he’ll put you to sleep forever.Only The Gypsy King, Tyson Fury can take Wilder power.
Fury further said: Look at Helenius. Dead as a nit in about 30 seconds on a little six inch punch. He had a good old do with AJ until AJ caught him … How can you compare him to a man that would knock your brains out with either hand? He’s not the most elusive person AJ is he? He’s not a lateral mover.
His head don’t go anywhere. I think it would just be suicide for him”.
