Deontay Wilder is a big boxing star and as such many are eagerly awaiting his matches. Soon, Wilder could arrange a match with Antony Joshua, which should take place at the end of this year. However, in an interview with the media, Wilder confirmed that there are good chances to arrange a match with Francis Ngannou.
The former UFC fighter is always mentioned in the context of boxing matches. Joshua, Fury, and now Wilder are emerging as options for him. "All things and any things are possible,” -Wilder said, as quoted by MMA Fighting.
“So, you know, me and Francis have had discussions, we’ve had meetings, with both parties as far as the team is concerned. So, this is a real conversation that has been taking place. Not just amongst the combat family, but amongst the teams as well.
So, this is something that could truly happen. The best is yet to come, overall”.
Deontay Wilder on MMA rules
Wilder has sparked the imagination of all martial arts fans. Namely, this phenomenal boxer is considering the option of fighting under MMA rules with Francis Ngannou.
Recently, MMA fighters have had the practice of trying their hand at boxing. However, there are a few examples of the opposite. Wilder wants to stop such practice and fight in the cage. “You always see the MMA guys crossing over but you never see the boxers crossing over,” Wilder said.
“I want to make it more interesting for the fans and just my whole comeback family, you know? I said, ‘Well how about you come to my backyard and after we have that business I can come to yours and cross over.
And I really meant it”. It would be really great if we could watch these two fighters inside the cage. Wilder would hardly stand a chance against Ngannou, but he seems to have a lot of faith in himself.
